“A Grandpa Joe Day!” is OUT NOW!

Billy has been waiting for this day forever: His Grandpa Joe is taking him to his favorite amusement park. When Billy wakes up that morning, he looks out the window and sees that it is raining hard. He quickly turns on the news to get the weather report.  The weather person says, “Sorry Kids, but today looks like a washout.” Billy becomes worried that Grandpa Joe won’t come, and the day will be canceled because of the weather.

Will the day be a washout? Or one of the best days ever? Find out in this inspiring and whimsical illustrated picture book from first time author/illustrator Bill Shea.

MEET GRANDPA JOE

aka JOSEPH TUOTI

Grandpa Joe, aka Joseph Tuoti, was a U.S Postal Mailman and an artist.

My grandpa, Joe, taught me about unconditional love. This kind and gentle man gave me a gift that I would come to appreciate and cherish for all my life.

Our special and loving time together was brief, but time captured moments like my first roller coaster ride.

A Grandpa Joe day was filled with memories that no weatherperson could dampen. Our visit(s) would sometimes start with rain, and we thought all outdoor plans would be canceled. We were assured that the rain would stop enough to let our plans work out.

Grandpa Joe days were always filled with life, love, and sunny days.

KEEPING IT
OLD SCHOOL

A Grandpa Joe Day! was made with love, care, and LOTS of colored pencils and markers. This book has been widely accepted and loved because it isn't perfect or computer-created; it's imperfect just like we are!

Bill Shea Talks Coasters with AARP

“The Dragon roller coaster was the very first big roller coaster I went on,”

AARP released their top list of five parks worth a visit. During their focus piece on family-oriented, classic amusement parks for any age, AARP's Statey Freed spoke to "A Grandpa Joe Day" author Bill Shea about his fond memories of Playland in Rye, New York.

A Hometown Article From Halston Media News

“the clouds are going to go away and things are going to be better”

Before the launch of "A Grandpa Joe Day", Bill's local newspaper in North Salem interviewed him and wrote an article all about the book, Bill himself, and his aims with the book: to bring light into people's lives and help it feel like the rainy clouds are parting.

WHAT READERS SAY

Our 5 year old son treasures this book, it’s one of the three books he travels with. Grandpa Joe is a great reminder that a healthy dose of optimism can wash away the grayest of days.

Bryan D’Alessandro
Father

Every time my boys (6 and 4 years old) read “A Grandpa Joe Day!” we smile and laugh because it reminds us that sometimes when the day doesn’t seem like it is going our way, we can always be pleasantly surprised! I love this story to read to them and remind myself that we can always make the best out of the day, no matter the circumstances.

Lauren Pregiato
Mom of 2 Boys

The first time I read “A Grandpa Joe Day!” I was overcome with emotion. This story is a day of miracles performed by the simple act of love. I want every child to feel what it’s like to have a Grandpa Joe day and every adult to learn what Grandpa Joe showed us. What a world it would be if it was filled with Grandpa Joes
